Simple Traffic Signal Light Controller Circuit

Now a days, you may see traffic signals in your city where two or more roads link together. As an electronic hobbyist, you may pick a question on your mind that how a traffic signal system works or how it can be made. In this post, I will show you a simple traffic signal
controller circuit. It's a self controlled traffic signal system. In this circuit, CD4017 is the main IC. And the most popular  555 timer IC is to provide clock pulse for the  CD4007. See the circuits below...

Fig1: Oscillator Circuit For CD4017
Fig2: Traffic Signal Light Driver Circuit
The first circuit (Fig1) is designed to generate clock pulse for operating IC CD4017. And the second circuit (Fig2) is the traffic signal light driver circuit. Pin 14 of  have to CD4017 connect with the pin 3 of 555 timer IC. Here, for simulating the circuit, the Vdd and VSS pin (See Fig3) were not connected. Infact these pins are not shown in the circuit. But  for the practical construction of this circuit you have to connect the

 Fig3: Pin Configuration of CD4017
Vdd with 6v DC and Vss with ground. Pin 12 will be opened. Pin 11 and 15 should be shorted. The points noted by 'A' should be connected with the power supply for the three lights. Now rest of the things are OK. Before going through with the work, first see the pin configuration and the operating modes of 555 timer.
