How to use an Analog Multimeter as a DC Power Supply

An Analogue Multimeter is an essential instrument to troubleshoot or to test electronic equipment. Here, I will show how to use an analogue multimeter as a DC power supply. It is very easy and helpful for an engineer as well as technician. Let’s do it.
Part List:
  1. Analogue Multimeter with Continuity Test feature.
  2. Elements to test (LED, LCD, 7 segments etc.)
Procedure:
  1. At first, set your multimeter at continuity test.

  2. Connect your meter leads together. Your meter needle should deflect. Now your meter is ready to give you a small dc supply (3v).
  3. Check your DC supply with another Voltmeter. In this case, the positive lead will be Negative (-ve) of the supply and the negative lead will be Positive (+ve) of the supply.
  4. Now take a LED, Connect your supply Positive to the LED positive and Supply Negative to the LED Negative. Your LED should glow.
*Note: My multimeter model is SUNWA YX360TR and it can operate at 3v (2 pcs 1.5v dry cell is needed). So, my meter can provide me 3v DC supply when it is used as a DC power supply. An extra 9V battery can be inserted to active the X10k mode. For this case the meter should provide you total 3+9=12v DC supply.
