This article helps you to identify the leads of a 5 pin SPDT relay switch. This is done by ohmmeter of continuity test mode of a multimeter. It's very simple to do. Let's see how to do that...
The pins of the relay's are pole or common, Normally closed (NO), Normally open (NO) and the coil or supply pins. Take your multimeter and set it to resistance measuring mode or continuity test mode at a scale of 1kΩ range. Now measure the resistance between the leads. Only the coil leads shows non zero resistance. By this indication you can identify the coil leads. Now, you have 3 pins to identify.
Now, connect a dc supply according to your relay (if your relay is 6V then supply 6V) through your coil leads. Observe which pins are connected together at this situation. Disconnect the supply and do the test again and observe which pins are connected together. The pin which is common in both test, is the pole or common pin. The pin which was connected to pole when the supply was connected is the normally open (NO) pin. The rest is normally closed (NC) pin and it should be connected to pole at the absence of supply.
