How to Test a Diode Using Multimeter

A normal diode test is almost like the zener diode test. The information you have to remember that a normal diode should be connected in forward biased direction with resistor for testing using voltmeter where a Zener diode should be connected in reverse biased direction with resistor. Also you have to remember that the forward voltage drop for a normal diode is approximately 0.7 V (Silicon) or 0.3 V (Germanium) where the a zener diode reverse biased voltage is equal to it's voltage rating. Rest of the thing is same for both diodes. So, see How to Test a zener diodeand compare it with normal diode test.
