Simple Mobile Phone Charger Circuit

Now a days mobile is a most popular medium of communication. The mobile that you are using needs to charge. But if you have no charger, how can you charge your mobile phone? Have you think how to make a mobile phone charger? or what is the main function of a mobile phone charger?
Let's see, how a mobile phone charger works and what is the operation of a charger.See the schematic below,
Fig: Mobile Phone Charger Circuit

A mobile phone charger is nothing but a DC voltage source. You can make this by your own. Buy the equipment from the list below and design your circuit as shown in above figure.

Equipment List:
  1. T1= 220V||9V, 500 mA; ( a few number of mobile which will not charge if the output of the charger is high. for this, you should replace the transformer with 220V||6V, 250 mA).
  2. D1,D2,D3,D4,D5= 1N4002 or Equivalent;
  3. C1= 1000uF, 25V Electrolyte Capacitor;
  4. C2= 0.1uF, Ceramic Capacitor;
  5. R1=1k ohms;
  6. R2= 47 ohoms;
  7. R3= 10 ohoms;
  8. LED1= Red  or any;
  9. LED2= Green or any.
After implementing the circuit, measure the output voltage. if the circuit gives you approximately 9V, make sure that your circuit is okay.

Operation:
When you connect the circuit with power supply.. the 220V will decrease by T1 . Then the bridge rectifier by four diodes(D1-D4) rectify the voltage level. Then C1 will make it DC & C2 will filter the voltage level. Now the current is divided into two portion . One will flow through R1 & LED1. That's current will help the LED1 to turn on and confirm that the charger has connected to main supply. R1 works as the current limiting resistor. Another portion of current will go through the diode and battery. And finally this current will divided into two portion again. One through R2 and another through LED2 & R3. Here, R3 is works as current limiting resistor. If the battery of mobile is not connected to the output, there will be no current through the output. Then the LED2 will not turn on. So the LED2 is works as indicator whether the mobile or battery is connected or not. The diode D5 is for protection from reverse current flow.
